What do we do?
We conduct integrative research on sustainable development, focusing on the social and behavioral dynamics that shape sustainability outcomes and the lived experiences of individuals and communities.
Our work examines how social structures, decision-making, and everyday practices influence development processes and sustainability transitions. We study how people and institutions navigate change, negotiate trade-offs, and contribute to more just and inclusive futures.
We address complex environmental and development challenges by integrating social, behavioral, technological, and policy perspectives, combining empirical research with practical approaches to advance equity, resilience, and sustainability.
Our current research focuses primarily on sustainable food systems and food security, exploring how smallholders, institutions, and communities respond to environmental and economic pressures. We investigate behavioral drivers of innovation adoption, governance of shared resources, and the social implications of emerging technologies in food systems.

Integration Matters
Sustainability challenges are complex and interconnected. Addressing them requires more than disciplinary expertise. It calls for integration across social, behavioral, environmental, and policy perspectives.
An integrative approach combines diverse methods, theories, and forms of knowledge to understand how systems interact and change. It enables us to examine both structural conditions and individual agency, as well as local realities alongside global processes.
By bridging disciplines and scales, we generate insights that are more comprehensive, grounded, and actionable. This integration is essential for advancing sustainability that is effective, just, inclusive, and responsive to the lived experiences of people and communities.
